The Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) is presenting a workshop for parents, Hocus Pocus Focus, on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. in the NKHS Media Center. The workshop will address attention and executive functioning skills
for students with ADHD and other disabilities.
Executive functions consist of several mental skills that help the brain organize and act on
information. These skills enable people to plan, organize, remember things, prioritize, pay
attention and get started on tasks. They also help people use information and experiences
from the past to solve current problems. Weakness in execution function skills often appear
in children with learning and attention issues. This workshop will provide parents with
interventions and accommodations that can be used to help improve or support these skills.
