Principal

River Otter Community,

I could not be more excited to introduce myself as the Principal of New Kent Elementary School. I have been a member of our River Otter family for the past 12 years having served as a general education and special education teacher for Kindergarten through Fifth Grades, and it feels like home to me. I believe strongly in the power and right to an education and am a first-generation college alumna. I earned my bachelor's in Elementary Education from The College of William and Mary, my master's in Special Education from Old Dominion University, a post-master’s in Administration and Supervision from Longwood University, and my doctorate from Virginia Commonwealth University in Educational Leadership. 

I am the proudest mama to my eight year old son Ryan and his three (labrador retriever) siblings. I love to read, go hiking, and spend time on the water; but I am most fulfilled when I am at NKES surrounded by our incredible students and teachers.

Every single student is valued and contributes to our NKES family, and we welcome them into a loving, productive, and limitless community. Ms. Parson and I look forward to partnering with our River Otter families, and we cannot wait for all of the growth and memories ahead!
